My Story: Batumi

                                                                                                            It is just the beginning...

Hello to everyone. On my blog, today I will write you my first trip, "City of love and sun - from Batumi". At first, There were other countries and cities in my mind and I told myself I would not go to Batumi. But the first day when I set foot in the city, Batumi told me how unfair my words were. With this, 5-day travel started.

By reading the blog, you can easily find city sightseeing, make your journey even more enjoyable and also set your budget before arriving in Georgia. I'm sure you will fall in love with the city by watching the introduction video below.

When you reach the Georgian border, you will see money-changing points. I have a site suggestion for you. If you want know how much your own money is in exchange for Georgian Lari, below site is a very good choice for you. We received 100 GEL for $ 36,4. Exchange a small part of your money at the border and the rest in Tbilisi or Batumi. Because you may lose a large amount.

If you are going by train, there are also tourist destinations like Ureki and Kobuleti. Kobuleti in particular will impress you with seaside nightclubs and night entertainment
First of all there is something to know about the city. City dwellers divide the city into two as New and Old Batumi. Seaside boulevard along the city and the places where the most-up-to-date infrastructure is created are known as New Batumi. Don't let the Old Batumi name fool you. This is a beautiful place and every street symbolizes a complete Europe.  Let me tell in advance, the best season to go to Batumi is summer.
Let's go to places to visit! With its European-style streets and squares, Batumi welcomes tourists who come here
Theater Square
On the one hand, the colorful architecture of the old Soviet buildings, on the other hand with modern skyscrapers and the famous theater square, where the greenery and Ilia Chavchavadze state theater building are located. The statue of Poseidon here is in fact a complete copy of the statue in Bologna Nettuno square.

If someone asked me about the most visited place in Batumi, I would definitely say the Botanical Garden. Anyone who wants to see paradise on earth should visit this place.
Batumi Botanical Garden
Batumi Botanical Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens in the world. If you are a photography patient, this place is for you. It is located a long distance from the city center and you can get to the Botanical Garden by bus for 1 GEL ( 0,3 $ ).
 Entry Price:                     15 GEL ( about 5,5 $ ) for 1 adult person.

And now let's go to Miracle Park, home to some of Batumi's most famous and iconic architecture. Here you can enjoy the Alphabet Tower, the Ferris Wheel, the statue of Ali and Nino, the Ship tour and the Microlight flight for adrenaline lovers. There is also the Batumi lighthouse and the Chacha Clock Tower.  In Chacha Tower every year between July and August at 19:00, free Georgian wine Chacha flows instead of water for 10 minutes.

Miracle Park
The statue of Ali and Nino are world-famous statues of Azerbaijani boy Ali and Georgian girl Nino. Metal sculptures pass through each other every 10 minutes to form a whole. It is based on the stories of 1918. If you don't know their stories, there is a movie or book called Ali and Nino. Learn their stories and then go to there. It is the most famous symbol of Batumi. One of the best things to do in Miracle Park is to enjoy the ferris wheel. I recommend you to go to the ferris wheel at night. Another distinctive aspect of the wheel is that the 4 side are open, is not the cabin. In my instagram status, I shared interesting videos on the wheel and you can watch videos that are not shared on the blog.
Ferris Wheel entrance price:     5 GEL ( about 1,8 $ ) for 1 adult person.
Batumi Boulevard
Probably if you ask anyone who knows the city well, where are the best places to visit in Batumi? One of the first places you will be told will be Batumi Boulevard. Because the boulevard completely covers the city along the coast. All attractions in the city, beaches, entertainment events, interesting buildings, city port, Miracle Park, Tennis courts and tables, luxury hotels and shopping malls, 6 May Park and much more are located here. There is also a large Aqua Park on the boulevard. Begin your first tour of the city from here.
Attractions start from 5 GEL ( about 1,8 $ ) here

Batumi Seaport
There are so many beautiful places in seaside, we can't leave from here :)) Our next place is the Batumi seaport. It is one of the busiest ports on the Black Sea. There are some restaurants along the seaport. Go up to the 3rd floor, order 1 coffee from the waiter and enjoy the Black Sea.

Piazza
One of the most attractive squares of Batumi - Batumi Piazza.  In the summer months it is impossible to find an empty table in the square. It is one of the most visited areas by tourists. The square is designed in a style similar to the squares in Italy. Piazza means square from Italian. A perfect place surrounded by cafes, restaurants and hotels on 4 sides. In front of the square is the Church of St. Nicholas and you will see the church before enter to square. One of the main churches of Batumi and it's worth to be seen.

Batumi beach
One of the most striking aspects of the beach in Batumi is the lack of sand. It is a beach surrounded by pebbles. A very enjoyable place in the summer.

The scene I will never forget in the city will be the boat tour. There is nothing more beautiful than watching the city from the sea in the summer. If you come to Batumi, don't miss this. It takes about 30 minutes to take 1 tour by ship. You can watch this tour from the video I took below.
Entrance price for ship tour:         10 GEL ( about 3,6 $ )

One of the places to visit in Batumi is the Dolphinarium. You have a chance to watch the Dolphins show here at certain times of the day. The applause of the people, the music playing, the dances of the dolphins complete the harmony in this arena. It is a great show, definitly go.
Opening times:    16:00 - 19:00 - 21:00
Entrance price for Dolphins Show:      20 GEL ( 7,3 $ ) for 1 adult person

There are a lot of places to visit in Batumi and I can't finish. The next place is the White Restaurant. Doesn't this house remind for you of a place? Yes, You guessed right. Georgians built the same White House in Batumi. The only difference is that the house is upside down and it's not a political center, it's just a restaurant with delicious Georgian and European cuisine.

And now, I will tell you the way to a comfortable and fun walk in Batumi in a short time. One of the best ways to walk around the city is to rent a bike. You can rent it daily and by the hour. I recommend renting daily. Another distinctive aspect of the city is the presence of bicycle lanes on the all the streets. That is, if you are cycling, you will neither go to the driveway nor the walking lane.
1 hour bike rental:                        5 GEL ( about 1,8 $ )
1 day bike rental:                          18 GEL ( about 6,5 $ )

Shall we continue our journey with the spirit of youth? 😊 Seasons with abundant tourists, activities do not end in Miracle Park. For example, such as the Black Sea Jazz Festival and Batumi Summer Set Festival.  No matter how old you are, tell yourself there is no age for fun and don't be afraid to throw yourself into positive areas.

I watched the city from all sides and I said let me watch it from the top of the mountain. Because watch bird's eye view from this position also gives a person beautiful feeling. It's called Argo Cable Car. When you go up slowly, you will have the chance to watch the Old and New areas of Batumi at the same time. Enter the entrance to the port of Batumi and let this cable line take you to the top of the mountain. A pleasant journey, I recommend you to try.
Entrance price for Argo Cable Car:                    15 GEL ( about 5,4 $ ) for 1 adult person

Another thing I admire about Georgians, they build their churches with a completely different enjoy. There are several churches here, The most visible is the Holy Mother Virgin Nativity Cathedral. Located on one of the central streets of Batumi. As you walk the streets of this city at night in the summer, you will experience unique feelings and most likely you will also encounter the church. When walking the streets of European style, sitting in a cafe or restaurant, it's okay to drink a cup of coffee, isn't it? definitely try it.
The outdoor activities of Batumi do not end. Now, let's talk about tennis courts and table tennis. Both created in outside. In fact, this city is such a paradise where it finds something to surprise you at your every step.
Table Tennis for half an hour:      5 GEL ( about 1,8 $ )
Tennis court for 1 hour:                25 GEL ( about 9 $ )

I almost forgot. There are also shooting entertainment centers near the tennis zones. 10 shots - 1 gift.
The first days you come to Batumi, go to Batumi Boulevard Fountains. See fountains dancing, people dancing, different music and cultures, modern buildings, fun lives. I'm not talking about cartoonists and artists yet. Don't forget to go there. This is the most beautiful side of Batumi. This city is doing its best so that you don't be bored and get away from stress.

Las Vegas of the Caucasus
Have you ever heard that name? This is one of the three names of Batumi. The reason is that, as in Las Vegas, it is full of Casinos. Most of the Batumi economy revolves around tourism and gambling. You can see luxurious casino buildings on every street, every corner, every square. Casinos are legal in Batumi. We even got into one. A place called Medea Casino. Remember this if you are a tourist and want to go to the casinos, definitely your passport should be on you. A card will be created in your account to log in and play.
Entrance price to Casinos:              Free

6 May Park
Dolphinarium on the left, the luxurious Hilton Hotel in front, the famous Zoo behind and trees on the right and a park stretching along the Nurigeli lake. Someone comes to the park to fish, someone to see the Zoo and others just to relax by the lake. We came to take pictures 😜  We came across two zoos in the city. You will meet one of them while walking on the boulevard. The other is in the 6 May Park. According to me there were more different varieties in the zoo in 6 May Park. But you visit both

Metro City Forum
I mentioned the names of many places in the city. However, I have not talking about indispensable habit for people, especially women. Yes I meant shopping malls. While walking around the city we came across two shopping malls. Metro City Forum and Batumi Mall.  Metro City Forum looks very impressive from the outside. The biggest reason it is so attractive is its close proximity to the Euphoria Hotel. But the inside is very simple and small.
Generally, if you want to buy a lot of gifts, try to stay away from the city center. Because the prices are about twice as expensive. My best advice to you is to go to cheap markets. We went to a place called Hopa ( Khopa ) Market. It is not a big market, but you can find everything you see in the city center here at about twice cheap the price. I can say that I am very pleased. 15 - 20 minutes by bus from the city center.

Batumi Night Clubs
I have not forgotten our young friends :) I also went to nightclubs in Batumi for you. There are many nightclubs, disco clubs and strip clubs in Batumi. I went to 2 different clubs. Discorium Night Club and Inferno Night Club. I loved the interior of both clubs. However Inferno club left a special mark on my heart 😍 If you want to go to a bar, club or strip club, the best tool is to open Google Map. Just type Disco Clubs Batumi instead of searching. You will see several club recommendations. Be very careful when going to the club. The city of Batumi is not very reliable about bars. Especially in the prices of your drinks.

Georgian cuisine ( Kupaty )
Georgian cuisine is really one of the most diverse and delicious cuisines in the world. Of course, we would not return from such a kitchen without tasting. The streets of classic Batumi will not deprive you of these flavors :) Even the restaurant we found was in such a position that there were several national restaurants across the street. I have forgotten the name of the street or the restaurant. We ordered two different flavors and both were perfect. The names were so: Kupaty and Ostri with beef meat. Kupaty is the national cuisine of Georgians and believe me it is very tasty. I must admit that I have never eaten anything so delicious in my life. Of the other Georgian national cuisines, I can say Khinkali, Ojakhuri, Chakhokhbili, Kuchmachi, Satsivi chicken and others. Khinkali is a very difficult food to digest. We ate at 1 at night and we couldn't sleep all night 😂 Or you can choose McDonald's as a classic option. My favorite was small menu. Both satiating and inexpensive)
McDonald's small menu price:        5,35 GEL ( about 1,9 $ )
Sum Total for Kupaty and Ostri :            16.50 GEL ( about 6 $ ) per person including drinks, meals and service fee
How to eat breakfast at a very cheap price? I will give you the secret of it. This secret is hidden in Khachapuri, one of the Georgian pastries. 1 khachapuri and 1 Coca-Cola will keep you satiated for 4-5 hours. If you say I don't eat that, I have another choice for you. Batumi restaurants have a rich breakfast menu. Choose what you want. We ordered a delicious omelet😋 In the most restaurants, the waiter's service fee is added to the amount.
Sum total for Khachapuri and Cola:      2,5 GEL ( about 0,9 $ ) per person
The price of the Omlet:                  9 GEL ( about 3,2 $ ) per person
1 cup of tea:                                     4 GEL ( about 1,4 $ )
Parasailing tour
Another gesture from me to young friends. The Black Sea gives you a chance on Parasailing, Jet Ski, Hot air balloon and Speed boat tours. If you ride two or one person on a jet ski and a speedboat, you pay the same price.
Parasailing tour:    100 GEL ( about 36,4 $ )
Speed Boat Tour:      30 GEL ( about 11 $ )
Jet Ski:                       60 GEL ( about 22 $ )
Find on map:             Parasailing tour, Batumi, Georgia
Everything is different in this city. For example, police uniforms and cars are American style. Many architectures are like those brought from other cities. Let me give example, Colosseum Marina Hotel - Reminiscent of the Colosseum in Rome. Others examples, Batumi Technological University Tower - Empire State Building. Batumi Ferris Wheel - London's Eye. Chacha Clock Tower - Izmir Clock Tower and so on. Batumi has two main symbols: Ali & Nino Statue and Alphabet Tower. You can't see these two architectures anywhere else.
Batumi streets
We set off on July 2 and returned on July 8. We traveled for 5 days. I would advise you to travel for 4 days. If you dont want to rest and only you want to discover the city, 3 days are enough.
Now your question arises, how much will it cost if I go to Batumi? Other question, Cefer, how much did it cost your travelling? Don't worry, I will say everything. First of all, I would like to talk about the cheapness in the city. Most things in Batumi are cheap. For example, House rents, hotels, restaurants, food prices, etc.
Because I went from Azerbaijan to Georgia, therefore, my transportation costs were very cheap.
My transportation cost:   125 GEL (about 46 $)
However, your transportation costs may vary depending on the distance. If I don't count the clothes and gifts I bought, the total cost is 420 GEL ( about 153 $ ). This figure varies depending on what you want in city. Maybe you want to try all the attractions, or spend time in casinos, bars, luxury hotels. Then prices will be very high :)   In a word, lots of opportunities, cheap prices.
So I'm finishing my Georgian blog. I hope my blog will be useful for you.
What do you think about Batumi? Do you think it is worth seeing? Is it a cheap or expensive city for you? Please write your answers in the comments section😊  Your opinions are important to me
